Arriving in Jerusalem, we will enjoy one of the most inspiring cities in the world, renowned for its historical significance, spiritual symbolism and visual splendor. On our tour we will visit the Last Supper Church, the Western Wall and a walk along the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrow). We will also walk through the Armenian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter and Cardo. The lights come at night when the sky is dark. It’s like a celestial ballet of light dancing across the night sky – one of the most spectacular sights in the world.
Departing on 26 February 2020 we first fly to London to board the P&O Aurora for our cruise to Norway and into the Arctic Circle. Having visited Andalsnes we arrive in Tromso, inside the Arctic Circle and where our Arctic adventure really begins. Tromso is famed as a viewing point for the Northern Lights that sometimes light up the sky. We will venture into the Norwegian countryside to seek out sites most conducive to sightings.
The city of Alta, located at latitude at 70ºN is known for its Northern Lights too, so much so that one of the first Northern Lights observatories was constructed here in the 19th Century. We will visit the UNESCO listed Alta Museum with its ancient petroglyphs; the Northern Lights Cathedral and learn about the indigenous people, the Sami who will take us on a reindeer sledding tour. We will of course again venture into the Norwegian countryside in search of the Northern Lights.
The P&O Aurora then cruises south arriving at Stavanger, the gateway to Norway’s spectacular scenic Fjordland. We first fly to Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, and see the Colon Opera House, the Obelisk, the Cathedral and the Cabildo, the colonial town built in 1751. We first fly to Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles, located on the island of Mahe surrounded by jungle-clad mountains that rise from the Indian Ocean. We first fly to Tokyo to board the MS Westerdam on our cruise around Japan. Our first port is Shimizu at the base of Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest and the holiest of mountains. We will enjoy a sightseeing tour of this very special area. Arriving in Osaka we travel to Kobe where we enjoy a cable-car ride in the Shin-Kobe Ropeway that lifts us up the southern slopes of the Rokko mountain chain with magnificent views of the surrounding area.
In Kochi on the southern coast of Shikoku we visit Kochi Castle, one of just 12 Japanese castles to have survived the fires, wars and catastrophes of the past feudal age. We also visit the Chikurinji Temple on Godaisan, one of the 88 temples along the Shikoku Pilgrimage. After cruising along the Kanmon Straits we arrive in Hakata, the ancient port of Fukuoka and enjoy a sightseeing tour of this historic city.
Having cruised to the west coast of Japan we arrive in Kanazawa, known for its intricate kaga-nui embroidery and delicate kutani porcelain where we tour the city including a visit to the enchanting Kenroku-en Garden, one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan.
We then arrive in Vladivostok, Russia where we explore Central Square, Arseniev Museum and some of Vladivostok’s military attractions. Cruising to the northern part of Japan we arrive in Otaru, on the island of Hokkaido where we will visit one of the many Herring Mansions and see the famous and historic mile long Otaru Canal. We then cruise to Hakodate and Aomori before arriving back in Tokyo where we continue our sightseeing, visiting the Asakusa district, the Asakusa Kannon Temple and the Sensoji Temple.
We then travel by the famous Shinkansen Bullet train to Kyoto, the cultural focal point of the country where we will spend two days exploring this ancient city and visiting some of its most famous temples & pavilions, including the Nanzenji Temple and the Golden Pavilion.

On 23 March we fly to Singapore to board Queen Victoria on our cruise to Cape Town. Our first port of call is Malacca, Malaysia, a city influenced by the Portuguese, British and the Dutch. In Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka we travel to the famous Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage where we see these amazing creatures that are looked after by the orphanage at all ages. Arriving in Port Victoria, Seychelles we enjoy a sight-seeing tour of the main island. Mahe, known for its natural beauty with beaches that are some of the most beautiful in the world.
Cruising southward we arrive in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. We next arrive on the island of Reunion, a French colony since 1813 and tour the capital Saint Denis and travel inland and see some spectacular waterfalls. Arriving in Port Elizabeth, South Africa we travel north to the Addo Elephant Park, one of the largest National Parks in South Africa. We finally arrive in Cape Town, South Africa where we will spend the next two days exploring this fascinating city. On 21 March we first fly to Dubai and enjoy a sightseeing tour of this very modern city. We travel through the desert to Abu Dhabi to visit the newly opened Louvre Museum. In the afternoon we visit the Falcon Hospital, the world’s foremost falcon welfare institution where you will have the opportunity to hold and feed a falcon. We then board the Queen Mary 2 on the final leg of her round the world cruise bound for Southampton. Our first port of call is Salaha, on the frankincense coast of Oman before cruising to the port of Aqaba, Jordan. We travel to Petra, one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world.
Arriving at the port town of Suez we travel through the desert to Cairo and visit Giza and see one of the Wonders of the Ancient World…the Pyramids built by the pharaohs over 4500 years ago. We also visit the Sphinx as well as the Cairo Museum. We transit the Suez Canal and arrive in Limassol, Cyprus before arriving at the port of Civitavecchia and travel by coach to Rome. Our next port of call is Barcelona before we arrive in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. We finally arrive in Southampton, and following disembarkation we travel to London via Windsor Castle.
