We first fly to Amsterdam, Netherlands where we will spend the next two days exploring this fascinating city, including a city canal cruise with fantastic views of the 17th century buildings.

Boarding the MS Rotterdam, our first port is Alesund, probably the most beautiful city in Norway, situated on islands and a peninsula, and with a unique architecture. Next we arrive in Seydisfordur followed by Akureyri, the unofficial capital of northern Iceland, and on our tour we visit one of Iceland’s most famous turf houses at Laufas. Arriving in Isafjordur, Iceland we drive to Bolungarvik village with views of magnificent mountains and Westfjord. We will also experience the awesome beauty of the fjords on the north western coast of Iceland – a day for photographs!

In Reykjavik, Iceland we will experience Iceland’s stunning natural wonders from ice fields to boiling thermal pools. We will also enjoy an overview tour of the city and see the Presidential Palace and the iconic Cathedral. There will also be time to stroll through the Old Town, home of the Icelandic Parliament and Town Hall.

After a day at sea we arrive at Lerwick the only town on the Shetland Islands. We will visit Scalloway Castle built in 1600 and visit the Scalloway Museum, and if we’re lucky we will see the famous Shetland ponies grazing along the sides of the roads.

In Inverness, near the famous Loch Ness we will visit the Loch Ness Exhibition Center in the pleasant village of Drumnadrochit. We also visit Urquhart Castle, a popular place today for Nessie spotters! Our last port of call in Scotland is Edinburgh where we enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city including a guided tour of the castle

We first fly to Kyoto, Japan the cultural focal point of the country where we will spend three days exploring this ancient city and visiting some of its most famous temples & pavilions, including the Nanzenji Temple and the Golden Pavilion. We then travel via the famous Shinkansen high speed train to Tokyo where we visit amongst other sites, the Ginza shopping district and the Imperial Palace East Gardens before embarking on our cruise around Japan.

We first visit Japan’s highest mountain, Mt Fuji to enjoy a spectacular view from a height of 2,300 meters followed by a majestic cruise across Lake Ashinoko on a replica pirate ship!  In Osaka we visit the city’s cultural highlight, Osaka Castle to admire traditional Japanese Architecture style and enjoy the panoramic view of the entire city.

Arriving in Kobe we enjoy a cable-car ride in the Shin-Kobe Ropeway that lifts us up the southern slopes of the Rokko mountain chain with magnificent views of the surrounding area. In Kochi on the southern coast of Shikoku we visit Kochi Castle, one of just 12 Japanese castles to have survived the fires, wars and catastrophes of the past feudal age. We also visit the Chikurinji Temple on Godaisan, one of the 88 temples along the Shikoku Pilgrimage.

We next arrive in the harbor city of Fukuoka, a fascinating melting pot of history, culture, modernity and food and we visit the ruins of Fukuoka Castle in Maizuru Park, the Dazaifu Temmangu Shrine and the Kushida Shrine. We then travel to In Busan, South Korea we visit the ancient Silla capital, Gyeong-Ju, a place UNESCO designated as one of the world’s top 10 historic sites.

In Aomori on the island of Honshu we visit Hirosaki, once the political and cultural capital of the Tsugaru Region, before returning to Tokyo.

Our first port of call is Salalah, Oman on the Frankincense coast famed for the fragrance of frankincense, once a most precious export worth more than its weight in gold! We next call in to the port of Luxor, renowned as the largest outdoor museum in the world, where we will enjoy two days exploring this fascinating area. We will visit the Valley of the Kings, the resting place of the pharaohs. We also visit the celebrated tomb of Tutankhamen, whose chamber still contains the king’s body inside the gilded coffin. We overnight in a luxurious hotel in Luxor. The next day we visit Karnak Temple, covering over 81 hectares, and a place that is capable of overshadowing many of the wonders of the modern world.

Arriving in Jerusalem, we will enjoy one of the most inspiring cities in the world, renowned for its historical significance, spiritual symbolism and visual splendor. On our tour we will visit the Last Supper Church, the Western Wall and a walk along the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrow). We will also walk through the Armenian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter and Cardo. We overnight in Jerusalem before visiting Temple Mount and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. We then travel to Bethlehem where we visit the Church of the Nativity where Jesus was born….an unforgettable experience.

Arriving in Aqaba, Jordan we enjoy one of the highlights of the cruise, a visit to the ancient ruined city of Petra, carved directly from the rock by the Nabateans. We then transit the Suez Canal and into the Mediterranean Sea and arrive in Alexandria. We then travel through the desert to Cairo for a full day of sightseeing. We will see the Pyramids and the Sphinx and also visit the famous Cairo Museum, where we will see the treasures of the Tomb of Tutankhamen, including the amazing gold mask.

Finally we arrive in Piraeus, Greece and travel to Athens with a full day of sightseeing, and see the Acropolis and the Parthenon with time to shop in the famous Plaka district.

To experience the unbelievable colours that move across the Arctic sky is on many travellers’ bucket list. Few places on earth offer more ways to witness the Aurora Borealis than Norway.

Northern Norway is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis. There are few phenomena that capture the imagination like the Aurora Borealis and lucky star-gazers can witness anything from an ethereal green glow on the horizon to pulsating scarlet streaks across the sky. The lights come at night when the sky is dark. It’s like a celestial ballet of light dancing across the night sky – one of the most spectacular sights in the world.

Departing on 26 February 2020 we first fly to London to board the P&O Aurora for our cruise to Norway and into the Arctic Circle. Having visited Andalsnes we arrive in Tromso, inside the Arctic Circle and where our Arctic adventure really begins. Tromso is famed as a viewing point for the Northern Lights that sometimes light up the sky. We will venture into the Norwegian countryside to seek out sites most conducive to sightings.

The city of Alta, located at latitude at 70ºN is known for its Northern Lights too, so much so that one of the first Northern Lights observatories was constructed here in the 19th Century. We will visit the UNESCO listed Alta Museum with its ancient petroglyphs; the Northern Lights Cathedral and learn about the indigenous people, the Sami who will take us on a reindeer sledding tour. We will of course again venture into the Norwegian countryside in search of the Northern Lights.

The P&O Aurora then cruises south arriving at Stavanger, the gateway to Norway’s spectacular scenic Fjordland. Stavanger is also known as the Cradle of the Vikings, and has 173 listed and restored wooden houses built in the late 18th and 19th centuries, and has one of northern Europe’s best preserved collection of wooden houses.

We also have some free time to wander through the bustling market before returning to the ship.

A wonderful experience cruising the Andaman Sea and Indian Ocean

We first fly to Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles, located on the island of Mahe surrounded by jungle-clad mountains that rise from the Indian Ocean. We will enjoy a sightseeing tour and take in the beautiful scenery of the island and its stunning beaches before boarding the Fred Olsen Boudicca for our 14 night cruise to Phuket in Thailand. After boarding the Fred Olsen Boudicca we spend several days cruising through the Indian Ocean before arriving in Male, the capital of the Maldives.

Our next port of call is Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, where we travel to the famous Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage, an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants, a very memorable experience.

After several days at sea we arrive in Port Blair, surrounded by tropical forest and rugged Indian coastline and is the largest city in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands group. We will enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city including a visit to the Museum of Anthropology.

We finally arrive in Phuket, Thailand, a rain forested, mountainous island in the Andaman Sea with some of Thailand’s most popular beaches and holiday resorts. We take a relaxing boat journey to Phang Nga Bay and explore the pristine beaches, mangrove forests, lagoons and caves on this fantastic exploration of the bay.

We first fly to Kyoto, Japan the cultural focal point of the country where we will spend three days exploring this ancient city and visiting some of its most famous temples & pavilions, including the Nanzenji Temple and the Golden Pavilion. We first travel to Akita, once a castle town of the Satake clan but is now a vibrant and prosperous city. We take a scenic drive to Namahage Museum in Oga Peninsular showcasing cultural and folklore traditions.

In Niigata we experience Japan’s natural beauty where we hope to see the golden hues of the autumn season, and take the cable car to the summit of Yuzawa and take in the panoramic views. We then arrive in Tsuruga, surrounded by mountain ranges on three sides and opene to the Sea of Japan, and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city. In Sakaiminato, surrounded by water we visit the Adachi Museum housing an impressive collection and then visit Matsue Castle , built in 1611 and is one of the oldest castles in Japan.

We then travel to In Busan, South Korea we visit the ancient Silla capital, Gyeong-Ju, a place UNESCO designated as one of the world’s top 10 historic sites. On our last day we travel halfway up Japan’s highest mountain, Mt Fuji to enjoy a spectacular view from a height of 2,300 meters followed by a Japanese style lunch.

Discover the awesome beauty of the fjords on the north western coast of Iceland

We first fly to Amsterdam, Netherlands where we will spend the next two days exploring this fascinating city, including a city canal cruise with fantastic views of the 17th century buildings.

Boarding the MS Rotterdam, our first port is Bergen, Norway surrounded by mountains and known as “the City of Seven Mountains”. Next we arrive in Seydisfordur followed by Akureyri, the unofficial capital of northern Iceland, and on our tour we visit one of Iceland’s most famous turf houses at Laufas. Arriving in Isafjordur, Iceland we drive to Bolungarvik village with views of magnificent mountains and Westfjord. We will also experience the awesome beauty of the fjords on the north western coast of Iceland – a day for photographs!

In Reykjavik, Iceland we will experience Iceland’s stunning natural wonders from ice fields to boiling thermal pools. We will also enjoy an overview tour of the city and see the Presidential Palace and the iconic Cathedral. There will also be time to stroll through the Old Town, home of the Icelandic Parliament and Town Hall.

After a day at sea we arrive at Lerwick the only town on the Shetland Islands. We will visit Scalloway Castle built in 1600 and visit the Scalloway Museum, and if we’re lucky we will see the famous Shetland ponies grazing along the sides of the roads.

In Inverness, near the famous Loch Ness we will visit the Loch Ness Exhibition Center in the pleasant village of Drumnadrochit. We also visit Urquhart Castle, a popular place today for Nessie spotters! Our last port of call in Scotland is Edinburgh where we enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city including a guided tour of the castle
